Qubbos: custom checkout and a faster store
Delivery and installation options at checkout based on postcode and product, built on Shopify metaobjects, plus a faster storefront for a Spanish appliance store.
What is Qubbos?
Qubbos is a Spanish online store for home appliances and electronics. They sell everything from fridges and washing machines to small kitchen appliances.
What needed solving
There were two things to solve:
1. Complex Service Logic
The store needed to show the right delivery and installation options depending on several things:
- ZIP code-based delivery zones with different service availability
- Product-specific installation requirements (e.g., fridges, ovens, washing machines)
- Variable pricing for installation services by product type
- Delivery restrictions for certain items (stair access, removal services)
- Dynamic delivery times based on warehouse proximity (2-4 days vs 4-10 days)
To solve it I built a system on Shopify metaobjects that holds the postcode data and the service rules. The customer automatically sees only the service options that apply, both at checkout and on the product page.
2. Performance Issues
The site was slow. I went through the whole site, optimized image loading, bundled the most important CSS, moved less important scripts to the end of the load (so the visible parts show up sooner) and removed apps that were not used.
