Polite Worldwide: updated theme and a faster store
I rebuilt Polite Worldwide’s Shopify theme: new sections showing the celebrities who wear the jewellery, shorter load time and a theme they can edit themselves.
What is Polite Worldwide?
Polite Worldwide is a jewelry store on Shopify known for its high-end products and major celebrity endorsements. The old theme was slow and dated, and the store did not look like a luxury brand.
The Problems with the Old Theme
- The theme was heavy and awkward to update, so even small changes needed developer time.
- Several unoptimized scripts and no lazy loading made the site slow.
- The layout was cluttered, so the products and the celebrity photos got lost.
New Theme Features
I rebuilt the whole codebase, added lazy loading and changed how the scripts load, which made the site a lot faster. I also made the theme editable in the theme editor, so Polite Worldwide can change almost anything without touching the code.
A cleaner design
Polite Worldwide wanted to look like the luxury brand they are. I removed most of what the pages did not need and gave the product photos and the key details the space.
Celebrity Endorsements Everywhere
The celebrities wearing the jewellery are a big selling point, so I put them on almost every key page, from the home page to the product pages. Carousels show well-known people wearing Polite’s pearl necklaces.
Fully Customizable
Everything new, including the header gradients and the custom-built sections, can be changed in the theme editor. I built it so Polite Worldwide can change text, images and layout themselves without touching the code.
Landing pages
I also built a few one-off landing pages, for example the compliment generator: a page with an animated background (GLSL and GSAP) that writes a personal message with AI.
Hotjar after launch
After launch I followed visitors in Hotjar to see how they used the new design, and adjusted a few sections based on that.
Final Thoughts
The store loads faster than before, looks cleaner, and Polite Worldwide can change text, images and sections themselves in the theme editor.
